Artwork Lillith on canvas, Lillith is a female, demonic figure from the mythology. In medieval literature, she developed as the predecessor of Eve. After a fight with Adam, she fled from paradise to the desert, where she had orgies with desert spirits and gave birth to many demons. In later folklore, she grew into the founder of witchcraft and became known as the grandmother of the devil or even the devil herself. Today, Lillith symbolizes the liberated woman: one of the first feminists, who refuses to yield to tradition or female oppression.
